CHIP TIMING FOR 2010
2. A Chip Timing test will be made during Race Packet pickup.
3. The team member participating in the Cross-Country Ski leg will wear the chip by wrapping the Velcro through the plastic loop and back on it so it forms a bracelet on the wrist. Each racer should secure the chip on their wrist in this same fashion to avoid losing it. Team Members are responsible for securing the chip in a manner suitable for their leg of the race. If you flip in the river your chip should be ATTACHED to you and not sinking to the bottom because it was loose in the canoe.
4. Once a team member finishes their leg of the race, there will be a finish line and a chip timing trigger area clearly marked with orange cones. As you cross the finish line of your leg you should have the chip in your hand ready to pass to your next TEAM MEMBER and make sure you pass the chip low enough (knee height) to the timing wire (timing wire is on the ground under the mat, running between the two orange cones) to record your chip. It is your responsibility to make sure your chip is recorded and passed off to your Next Leg Team Member. For information about how chips are handed off at each leg, see details of race legs. Check you Racers Information Packet for up-to-date Chip Timing information.
5. The last team member must return the timing chip after they cross the finish line in Marine Park. There will be volunteers to collect the timing chip. The timing chip is the responsibility of the team. Lost chips have a replacement value of $95 and will be charged to the credit card used for the team Registration to cover the replacement costs.
COMPETITION PROTEST PROCEDURE & RULES
The official protest form will require information regarding the incident including witnesses for verification by the Ski to Sea Race Committee. The protester will be required to fill out the official form and turn it in to the Ski to Sea Race Protest committee with a $20 fee at the finish area (Marine Park) within thirty (30) minutes after the completion of the race by their team.
A quorum of the Ski to Sea Race Committee will be responsible for the final decision regarding any protest, including any notification by race officials or race monitors who have documented violations of race participant and those not specified in the race guide. Upon completion of the review, the $20.00 will be forfeited to the Ski to Sea Race if the protest is denied or refunded if it is upheld. The Protest Committee’s decision is final and unsportsmanlike conduct by any race team or their affiliates will disqualify that team from the race.
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS / ONLINE REGISTRATION
Ski to Sea Race - Registration for the Ski to Sea Race will open the first week of March 2010. Captains are the first to register so that a team name can be created. Once the Team Captain has registered, he/she should create a TEAM then add the racers to race application using the Online Registration system. Thank you.
The Team Captain is responsible to pay the registration fees for the entire team at the time the application is submitted. A Team number will be assigned after your application is accepted. Prior to race day the team captain and all team members must acknowledge the hold-harmless release forms online.
TEAM CAPTAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
One Timing chip will be issued per team. This chip is to be passed from one team member to the next. Lost chips are the responsibility of the team. The credit card that was used to pay for the registration will be charged $95.00 if the assigned timing chip is not returned to the final finish line of the event. It is the Team captain’s responsibility to give the chip to his or her team’s Cross Country Skier prior to race day.
