Vinson B. Latimore

This team is making race history by being the first all African-American team to compete! Their name roots from the 1.5% of the population they represent here in Whatcom County. Ski to Sea is becoming increasingly more diversified!

In my small home town of South Carolina, I regularly visited elderly family and church members at the local nursing home. During my visits, I listened to and learned from residents’ personal stories. From these enlightening moments, I discovered that one size community does not fit all nor does it meet the needs of all residents. I spent my summers caring for my grandparents and enjoyed hearing their stories and life lessons that help shape my life. This was the beginning into my journey into the health care field and my passion for serving seniors.

Do you plan to do all 7 legs of the race?:
Our team does plan to do all 7 legs. What do you like about the Ski to Sea? This is my first Ski to Sea. What would you tell others about the Ski to Sea? Planning for Ski to Sea has been fun. Since this is my first, I will formulate an opinion once the race is completed.

What do you like about the Bellingham/Mt. Baker region?:
There are 13 different golf courses within 30 mins of where I live in Bellingham. Also, I love running, skiing, biking and Bellingham is close proximity to Canada which opens up a variety of other outdoor activities.

If you are checking out a senior facility for you or your family, don’t forget the F.A.C.T.S.:
Food: Is it appealing & tasteful?
Affordability: Can you afford to live there?
Care: Does the care & staff meet your needs?
Test: Visit/stay the night & observe & ask residents.
