  Thank You for the Green Donations
The Ski to Sea would like to "thank" the following teams for making a voluntary donation to the Green Team.  The Green Fee helps offset the environmental cost of carbon emissions by putting resources back into our local area. All collected Green Fee funds will be donated to local groups working toward environmental health. We encourage your team to give a pay-back to the beautiful area that gives us so much fun on Race Day.

 Switching Racers on Your Team
Attention all Captains!  If you need to switch racers on your team, we just made it easier for you to be able to do it.  Just log onto your Team Application as Captain, and next to the ADD a RACER, you'll see the new button: SWITCH RACERS.  It's that easy.  All switching of racers must be completed by Sunday, May 17 or there is no guarantee that the right person's name will appear in the final race results. 

   Text Messaging Needs Your Attention 
If you chose and paid for TEXT MESSAGING when registering your team for the race this year; it is important that you setup the Cell Phone numbers and Email addresses where you want the notifications sent. Please take a moment and logon to your team registration at http://register.skitosea.com. Once there you can view, change and test your notifications on the Text Messaging tab or your application.

Remember – if you want to be notified of leg finishes you must setup and test your cell numbers and emails!

This year, the TOP GUN winners (the fastest racers for each leg, both Females and Males) will be getting something they can wear to work and have their coworkers oggle and ahhh over them.  Winners of the TOP GUNS will receive these great Top Gun Hats!  Horizon Air and Ski to Sea
In 1987, Horizon Air and Bellingham (and the rest of Whatcom County) kicked off a partnership that’s still going strong. And in that time it’s also grown to include our sister carrier, Alaska Airlines, which is launching nonstop service from Bellingham to Las Vegas starting June 25.

It all started modestly enough. Horizon operated its first flight from Bellingham International Airport with an 18-seat Metroliner turboprop headed to Seattle. In that first month, just 148 people boarded Horizon flights in Bellingham.

Since then, more than 1.3 million people have flown with us from Bellingham. As Bellingham has grown over the years, Horizon has kept pace, increasing capacity and evolving to much larger aircraft.

Our current five daily flights to Seattle are all operated with 76-seat Bombardier Q400s, the most technically advanced – and environmentally friendly – turboprop aircraft in the sky. In fact, Bellingham was the first city in Horizon’s route system where we converted all flights from 37-seat Q200s to the larger Q400s. By moving to the highly fuel-efficient Q400s, Horizon was able to increase total seating capacity to Seattle by 50 percent while reducing fares.

The word has spread about what our Bellingham customers have told us they’ve appreciated for so long. Horizon was named Regional Airline of the Year by Air Transport World magazine in 2007, and has also been ranked among the top 10 domestic airlines by Travel+Leisure magazine readers every year since 2004.

Although we’ve grown a lot in these years and greatly appreciate the increased recognition, we’ve never lost our focus on the motto we established early on: “It’s our privilege to serve you.”

Horizon’s service provides residents of Bellingham and British Columbia’s Lower Mainland area with frequent and convenient links to national and international transportation systems via Seattle. From there, you can connect to flights headed around the Northwest, across the country, or around the world on Horizon, Alaska or one of our many airline partners.

But the Horizon experience is about much more than getting you from point A to point B safely and reliably. Our aim is for the experience to be distinctly memorable – one that you will want to experience again and recommend to family and friends.

Our main ingredient is what we call Horizon Heart, something that is expressed and experienced in myriad ways. It takes many forms, from the sincere care and patience with which we assist a first-time traveler to the warm smile of recognition given to a frequent guest on an early-morning flight.

The Horizon team is made up of a diverse and talented group of individuals who share one trait: We are genuinely energized by serving others. And we are grateful to have the opportunity to express that innate passion for service through our work.
 
In addition, Horizon strives to be not just another business, but a good neighbor. For example, our Bellingham station helped organize a baby food drive at the airport last summer, with all donations going to the Bellingham Food Bank. Thanks to the efforts in combination with those of other airport tenants, more than 1,300 jars of baby food – plus monetary donations – were delivered to the food bank.

Horizon has enjoyed being a part of the Bellingham community, and we look forward to many more years together.
