Shaina Englund: Cross-Country Ski
Nickname: Elastagirl

Shaina has two young children, a hot husband, and is currently training for the Seattle Half Marathon.  She loves the outdoors including hiking, downhill skiing, and any place with a warm sandy beach.  Shaina married into the Englund family and occasionally doubts her decision.

Luke Englund: Snowboard
Nickname: Sparky

Luke is a math and physics major at Washington State University.  In addition to snowboarding Luke enjoys intramural football, backpacking and other wilderness activities.  Luke has recently climbed Mt Rainier but still finds the hike at the beginning of his leg of the race intimidating. 

Peter Englund: Run
Nickname: Elvis

Peter attends high school in Clark County, is ASB President, participates in soccer, cross-country and baseball.  Although Peter’s GPA is extremely high, he is slightly gullible.  That is why he is our runner. 

Geoff Englund: Road Bike
Nickname: Oopy

Geoff is in the United States Marine Corps, a tri-athlete, martial artist and graduate of the University of Washington.  When he isn’t working, Geoff is hunting with his German Shepherd named Eli.  Geoff is the only Swede on the planet who looks like he could be named Jose.

Dwight Englund: Canoe
Nickname: Thor

Three words: "Sixteen Inch Guns".  The only thing we're worried about is Dwight crushing his paddle. 

There is not a member on this team that Dwight has not challenged and motivated to be all they can be spiritually, mentally, emotionally and physically.  For this team he is an incredible role model, athlete, father, husband, uncle and friend.  He is old enough to be an AARP member yet defies the stereotype as he continually reaches for the greatest challenges. 

Mary Englund: Canoe
Nickname: The Matriarch

Mary is passionate about fitness and the outdoors.  She competes in multiple races each year and consistently ranks in the top three in her division.  In addition to training for Ski to Sea she will be competing in the Seattle half marathon this summer.  She is an inspiration and encouragement to all around her and adores her two grandchildren.

Ben Englund: Mountain Bike
Nickname: Triple B

The nickname Triple B is short for Big Booty Ben.  Fitting since he is by far the heaviest member of the team.  Ben also works as a Portfolio Strategist in Fixed Income.  Ben enjoys his incredible wife, two children, weightlifting, Ultimate Frisbee, and bacon cheeseburgers. 

Andrea Englund: Kayak
Nickname: The Pirate

Andrea has never been in a Kayak but that has not deterred her from the race.  She is probably the toughest member of the crew and brings a level of intensity and determination that challenges the entire team.  A couple of Kayak lessons and this tough competitor will be sailing the high seas.  Argh Matey!

Shelby Englund: Canoe
Nickname: Single and Satisfied

Shelby is a student at the University of Washington.  She still feels like her cousin Luke made a poor decision in his choice of universities.  When she isn’t studying, which is almost never, she is training for the Seattle Marathon.  Shelby is a cute, gregarious and exciting person.

Stephanie Englund: Dedicated Baby Sitter
Nickname: The Sitter

Stephanie is a recent graduate from Western Washington University.  Similar to an honorary Ph.D. Stephanie deserves an honorable mention in this race for watching the two kids while their parents participate in the race.  Stephanie, we don't know what we would do without you!
